The Ministry of National Defense has stated today (23rd) that in regard to the severe casualty caused by the tsunami at the Sunda Strait in Indonesia last night, the ministry must uphold the spirit of humanitarian aid and manifest the fulfillment of international community responsibility, hence it fully cooperates with the national policy and the overall planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 6th wing of the Air Force has prepared four C-130 military transport aircraft at the moment, and established a material consolidation station at the Hsinchu Air Force Base. The Republic of China Armed Forces will commence rescue mission immediately as soon as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs finishes coordination and contact with relevant agencies.
